Little Pyg
The Task
On the back of existing work with Pygmalian Bar in Dublin, the owners approached us to help with the development of a new space in the existing café area of the Powerscourt Townhouse Centre.
The Idea
The creation of a unique and authentic Pizza restaurant. A space that is both contemporary and inviting, able to facilitate visitors evolving needs, while still respectful to the existing Georgian era surroundings of the town house.
Our Approach
The Powerscourt Townhouse Courtyard area is a beautiful space in its own right but it did require some new life injected into. Inspired by high end Italian restaurants in major metropolis like New York, we set out to enhance the existing space while still being respectful to its architectural elegance.
As the courtyard area itself is adorned by window glazing, it feels like an outdoor space. We ran with this idea to create an outdoor experience – sitting in an Italian garden – indoors.
We integrated lots of greenery to make a quite open space cosier and more vibrant, evolved existing elements such as hanging baskets into bespoke installations that catered to a edgier, younger vibe and integrated brand elements tactfully into the design – the tile decoration on the custom made pizza oven.
The result is a unique space that is curated around the optimum environment for enjoying an authentic Italian pizza. A fitting space for what is Ireland’s first Michelin guide recommended Pizza Restaurant.
The Impact
The venue only recently opened but has proven a great success with queues outside and approximately 1400 covers on opening day.
