The Giro d’Italia is one of the world’s most prestigious stage road bike races and has started outside of Italy only 10 times in the 105 years since commencing in 1909 . We were asked to come on board by its organisers RCS Sport, and Ireland’s Event Serv to produce the look and feel for the staging at both the opening and closing events in Belfast and Dublin, brand the whole route, as well as design and produce the hospitality area at the start line.
We produced and rolled out over 2000 separate pieces of artwork and installation in 15 different sites over 3 days.
Giro was said to have been beamed to a global audience of 775 million viewers, bringing 140,000 visitors to Northern Ireland and generating around £2.5m in economic activity. The success of the event itself helped NITB tourism Board secure the Gran Fondo legacy events over the next 3 years.
